Heart-Healthy Walnut Hummus
Hummus is already a healthy plant-based dip or spread but why not make it heart-healthy by adding walnuts, the only nut that offers an excellent source of omega-3 ALA!
Walnut Hummus
Ingredients:
1 can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
1⁄2 cup walnuts
1⁄3 cup tahini
2 garlic cloves, minced
Juice of 1 lemon
3 tablespoons olive oil
1⁄2 teaspoon cumin
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1⁄2 teaspoon black pepper
5 tablespoons ice cold water
Directions:
Add all of the ingredients to a food processor and process until smooth, about 4 minutes, scraping down the sides when necessary. If needed, add more water 1 tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Transfer the hummus to a serving dish and garnish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive and walnuts.
